Farah Kinani is a Moroccan freelancer journalist and writer of children books based in North Potomac, MD since 2001, she wrote a book called Ramdan to educate children of muslmis on the Ramdan's rituals, the following is an exerpt from the book:

When my friend's daughter, Leila, told her classmates that she won't be joining them at lunch time they couldn't understand. They asked her to hide and eat, or at least to drink. Some even thought she was punished or given a time out! Leila was simply practicing one of the pillar of Islam, which is fasting the month of Ramadan. When she told me about the incident, I went to her middle school and gave a small speech about Ramadan to two classes.

This volume deals with the complex but poorly understood relationship between women, gender, and language in Morocco, a Muslim, multilingual, multicultural, and developing country. The hypothesis on which the book is based is that an understanding of gender perception and women's agency can be achieved only by taking into account the structure of power in a specific culture and that language is an important component of this power.
